LEGO Pokémon's Huge New Rayquaza Set Officially Arrives This Summer

LEGO has officially revealed a brand-new Pokémon building set starring the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza, with the fan-favorite guardian of the skies leading the latest wave of additions to the growing LEGO Pokémon lineup.

Rayquaza is a Dragon and Flying-type Legendary Pokémon first introduced in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire before becoming the cover Legendary Pokémon of Pokémon Emerald, and is widely regarded as the guardian of the skies that watches over Groudon and Kyogre while residing high in the ozone layer.

According to Pokémon lore, Rayquaza survives by consuming minerals found in meteoroids and is so rarely seen that sightings are often mistaken for shooting stars, while it also possesses the unique ability to Mega Evolve without requiring a Mega Stone.

The new LEGO Pokémon 72168 Rayquaza set recreates the iconic Legendary Pokémon using 1,083 pieces and introduces one of the most notable human characters in the LEGO Pokémon range to date.

Included with the set is an exclusive Zinnia minifigure, making this the first LEGO Pokémon release to pair a single Pokémon model with a character minifigure rather than focusing exclusively on Pokémon builds.

Zinnia plays a major role in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire as a Lorekeeper of the ancient Draconid people, where her close connection with Rayquaza makes her inclusion a particularly fitting addition for longtime Pokémon fans.

The Rayquaza set is joined by two additional LEGO Pokémon releases arriving as part of the same launch wave.

The LEGO Pokémon 72150 Munchlax recreates the famously hungry Normal-type Pokémon using 757 pieces and will be available for $69.99 (approx. ¥10,200 / £55 GBP).

Also joining the collection is LEGO Pokémon 72160 Arcanine, which uses 1,190 pieces to recreate the powerful Fire-type Pokémon and will retail for $109.99 (approx. ¥15,900 / £87 GBP).

Together, the three new sets continue to expand LEGO’s Pokémon lineup with builds based on some of the franchise’s most recognizable creatures, ranging from Legendary Pokémon to longtime fan favorites.
