Kojima Productions reveals first trailer for DEATH STRANDING MOSQUITO anime film

A new animated feature film project based on the world of the hit video game DEATH STRANDING has had its official reveal following a teaser announcement back in June.
The new movie was the headline reveal at the Kojima Productions 10th-anniversary special event, “Beyond The Strand,” which was held recently in Tokyo.

The film, which has a working title of DEATH STRANDING MOSQUITO, is the first-ever, feature-length animated production from Kojima Productions.
It is a Hollywood co-production, with a creative team that brings together talent from both Japan and the United States.

The director of the film is Hiroshi Miyamoto, who is known for his work on the Pretty Cure movie series.

The screenplay will be written by Aaron Guzikowski, who is known for his work on Hollywood films such as Prisoners.

The animation production will be handled by the newly established ABC ANIMATION STUDIO.

A 135-second teaser trailer for the new film has been released, which showcases the studio’s unique, “line-focused” visual style in an intense action sequence.

This was just one of several major announcements made during the anniversary celebration.

A new, in-development horror game, “OD – KNOCK,” was also revealed.

That project is a collaboration with the acclaimed film director Jordan Peele and is being co-developed with Xbox Game Studios.
A special collaboration with the “ZAKU” brand of Japanese sake was also announced, which will feature a bottle with new, original artwork by the legendary Kojima Productions Art Director, Yoji Shinkawa.

This range of announcements has laid out an exciting and ambitious roadmap for the future of the legendary studio, as it expands its creative endeavors beyond just the world of video games.
The “Beyond The Strand” event was held in Tokyo on Tuesday, the 23rd of September, 2025.
