Kirby teams up with Japan Post for new line of “Mochi Kirby” New Year’s goods

A new line of exclusive Kirby merchandise is set to be released in a collaboration with Japan Post.
The new “Kirby Goods Collection 2025” from the manufacturer Ensky is themed around a cute, “mochi” (rice cake) version of the popular Nintendo character, Kirby.

The collection features three different items, all with a “hoobari” or “stuffed-cheeks” expression, designed to look as if Kirby has inhaled a “kagami mochi,” a traditional Japanese New Year’s rice cake decoration.
The lineup of new goods is as follows:
- Kirby – Omochi Mochimochi Cushion (Stuffed Cheeks): ¥4,400 (approx. $30 USD/£22 GBP)

A large, 37cm-tall plush cushion that comes complete with a small, Waddle Dee-themed “mikan” orange on top.
- Kirby – Omochi Mochimochi Mascot (Stuffed Cheeks): ¥1,760 (approx. $12 USD/£9 GBP)

A smaller, palm-sized plush keychain version of the same design.

- Kirby – Koro-suzu Netsuke – Mochi Kirby (Stuffed Cheeks): ¥1,430 (approx. $10 USD/£7 GBP)

A traditional-style, brass “netsuke” (a miniature sculpture/toggle) with a built-in bell, also in the shape of the “mochi Kirby.”

In addition to this main collection, a separate product will be released at a later date.
A “Kirby New Year’s Card 3-pack” will also be sold, which includes three “nengajō” (New Year’s postcards) with the “mochi Kirby” design, as well as a sheet of bonus stickers for decoration.

The New Year’s card set is priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD/£4.4 GBP).
The new “Kirby Goods Collection 2025” will be released in two phases.
The three main merchandise items (the cushion, the mascot, and the netsuke) will be sold at approximately 2,000 Japan Post office locations across the country, as well as on the “Japan Post Online Shop.”

This release is scheduled for Friday, the 3rd of October.
The “Kirby New Year’s Card 3-pack” will have a later release, on Thursday, the 30th of October, and will be sold at approximately 560 post offices and on the online shop.
