Kirby gets a new afternoon tea inspired apparel collection from fashion retailer GU

Japanese fashion retailer GU has officially announced the full details of its upcoming collaboration with the popular Nintendo video game franchise, Kirby.
The new collection of apparel for women, men, and children, as well as a range of accessories, was first teased on social media yesterday.

GU is a major apparel brand in Japan, owned by the same parent company as UNIQLO, and is known for its affordable, trend-focused clothing and frequent pop culture collaborations.
This new partnership is specifically themed around the official “Kirby Café,” a popular, reservation-only restaurant with locations in Japan.

The collection is built around the theme “Let’s meet in Whispy Woods’ Forest” and incorporates a “British” design aesthetic that GU describes as being inspired by traditional “afternoon tea”.

The various items feature designs inspired by the menu and characters of the Kirby Café, such as small, embroidered illustrations of Kirby and Waddle Dee.
