KFC launches Gundam Wing collaboration with exclusive merch
KFC has officially launched a new collaboration campaign with “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz”.
It will bring an array of exclusive, limited-edition merchandise to fans in Hong Kong.
This collaboration aims to engage the huge international fanbase of the “Gundam Wing” series while driving customer traffic to KFC outlets across Hong Kong.
“Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz” is a critically acclaimed animated film that serves as a direct sequel to the popular “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” television series from the mid-1990s.
Initially released as a three-part Original Video Animation (OVA) in 1997, it was later re-edited into a feature film in 1998.
The film is popular among fans for its stunning animation quality, particularly the redesigned, more elaborate versions of the Gundam mobile suits, most notably the Wing Gundam Zero Custom with its distinctive “angel wings”.
Its story explores themes of peace, the dismantling of military power, and the struggle of former soldiers to adapt to a world without conflict.
The enduring popularity of the “Gundam Wing” series, especially “Endless Waltz,” has cemented its place as a classic story within the broader Gundam franchise.
During the extensive campaign period, customers at KFC Hong Kong can acquire exclusive “Gundam Wing Endless Waltz” themed goods by purchasing special collaboration sets.
Each set comes with a pair of randomly selected “Endless Waltz” stickers and lets you add any of the other collaboration items to your order.
The special sets include:
- Two pieces of Fried Chicken
- Two Chicken Fillet Burgers
- Crisscut Fries
- Two Drinks
- Two Egg Tarts or Two Sweetcorn
KFC has a history of successful anime and Japanese pop culture collaborations in Asian markets, often releasing unique merchandise that is popular with local audiences.
Previous collaborations in Hong Kong have included partnerships with “Attack on Titan” and “Detective Conan,” demonstrating KFC’s ability to work with popular Japanese franchises.
