Japan’s best curry breads revealed as “2025 Curry Bread Grand Prix” results announced

The winners of the “Curry Bread Grand Prix 2025,” an annual nationwide competition to determine Japan’s best curry bread, were announced on the 21st of July at an awards ceremony in the Osaki Bright Core Hall.
The event is organized by the Japan Currypan Association, an organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating the culture of curry bread, a popular Japanese pastry.

Curry bread, or “curry pan,” is a popular fried or baked pastry filled with savory Japanese curry.
Earlier this year, a new Guinness World Record for the “Most Curry Bread Sold in 8 Hours” was set at the Sapporo Snow Festival.

The association explained that it holds the awards ceremony on Marine Day (a public holiday in July) to symbolize the fact that both curry and bread originally arrived in Japan from overseas.
The Grand Prix is decided by a public vote, which this year saw 166,157 votes cast for 137 different entries from bakeries across the country.

Awards were given in multiple categories, with each category crowning a “Supreme Gold Prize” winner and several “Gold Prize” winners.
The top winners in the main categories are as follows:
