Japan gears up for popular annual itasha anime car event
An annual event that allows fans to showcase cars decorated with images of characters from popular anime and game series is set to hold its 2025 event.
The “ARC Championship 2025,” will take place in Shiga Prefecture at the end of May, with fans due to descend upon Okuibuki Motor Park to show off their vehicles.
This exciting event will bring together approximately 150 “itasha” from all corners of Japan.
Attendees can expect to see a wide range of vehicles, from compact cars to minivans, convertibles, and even motorcycles, all uniquely adorned with eye-catching wraps featuring beloved characters from anime and video games.
This year’s event promises a strong showing from popular franchises such as The Idolmaster, Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Fate, and Genshin Impact, alongside a significant presence of vehicles themed around popular VTuber groups like Hololive, as well as Love Live!, Hatsune Miku, and many more.
Past events have even featured incredibly high-quality itasha showcasing characters from Nintendo’s hit game Splatoon, garnering significant praise.
Adding a competitive edge to the fun, a contest will be held during the event, with attendees voting for their favorite decorated vehicles. Trophies will be awarded to the winners, recognizing the creativity and dedication of the owners.
The “ARC Championship 2025” will be held on May 25th at the Okubuki Motor Park & Event Venue (formerly Grandsnow Okubuki).
Admission to the event is free, and it will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
This event offers a fantastic opportunity for itasha owners to interact with other anime and gaming fans, many of whom also share a passion for motor vehicles.
