hololive launches Death Stranding 2: On the Beach collaboration

The official Hololive Production online shop is currently running a cross-promotional event with Hideo Kojima’s latest game.
The store has launched a special delivery campaign in collaboration with the video game “DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH”.

Orders placed through the Hololive Production official shop are being shipped in unique packaging that imitates the “damage sensor tape” which appears in Hideo Kojima’s dystopian delivery game.

This special collaboration highlights a growing trend of synergy between the gaming industry and the world of Virtual YouTubers (VTubers).
hololive production, a VTuber agency owned by the Japanese entertainment company Cover Corporation, manages a vast roster of VTubers across multiple languages.

These virtual performers, who use animated avatars to interact with audiences, have gained immense global popularity, particularly in live streaming, gaming, and music.
At the heart of this specific collaboration is Usada Pekora, one of hololive Japan’s most prominent and recognizable VTubers, belonging to their 3rd Generation, “hololive Fantasy”.

Known for her distinctive rabbit ears, mischievous personality, and signature verbal tic “peko”, Usada Pekora is one of the most-watched female streamers globally, boasting millions of subscribers across her platforms.
Her content often includes gaming streams, Japanese role-playing games, and comedic “Minecraft” prank videos.
The connection between Usada Pekora and “DEATH STRANDING 2” stems from an earlier announcement by legendary game director Hideo Kojima.
In late May 2025, Kojima Productions confirmed that Usada Pekora would make a cameo appearance as a “Prepper” in DS2.

Preppers are isolated individuals in the “Death Stranding” universe who assist Sam Porter Bridges (the game’s protagonist) in his delivery journeys.
This surprising inclusion, while initially causing some debate among game fans, aligns with Kojima’s known penchant for incorporating real-world celebrities and unexpected elements into his games, such as Conan O’Brien and Geoff Keighley in the first “Death Stranding”.

Kojima himself has expressed admiration for Pekora’s content and has even hosted her at Kojima Productions’ studio.
The “Death Stranding 2” special delivery packaging from the Hololive Official Shop features the iconic damage sensor tape from the game.
In the “Death Stranding” universe, this yellow tape is applied to cargo and packages carried by Sam Porter Bridges.
It serves as a visual indicator of the package’s condition; sensors within the tape change color or display visual cues to signify if the cargo has sustained damage during transit.

The special packaging was first applied to orders from the hololive production online shop that shipped on June 22nd.
Orders will continue to be shipped using the new tape whilst stocks last, so if you’re planning on ordering some new merch from the hololive store, you’ll need to do so quickly to be in with a chance to get the exclusive collab tape on your order.
