Like a Dragon Stage Play Reveals Full Cast Ahead of August Debut
The upcoming Like a Dragon stage play has revealed its main visual along with the complete cast and production staff, offering fans a closer look at the ambitious live adaptation ahead of its debut next month.
Like a Dragon, known as Ryū ga Gotoku in Japan, has become one of SEGA’s flagship franchises since its debut in 2005, earning a devoted global following through its blend of crime drama, emotional storytelling and action-packed gameplay set within Japan’s entertainment districts.
The production, titled Like a Dragon: Kamurocho Hakkenden, has been created as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations and brings together the ten highest-ranked characters from the official anniversary character popularity poll in a brand-new story that crosses the boundaries of multiple games in the series.
Rather than adapting an existing storyline, the play presents an original adventure that unites fan-favorite characters from different points in the Like a Dragon timeline.
The story begins with Kazuma Kiryu awakening without his memories in a mysterious version of Kamurocho that bears little resemblance to the familiar district fans know from the games.
Instead of the streets of 1995 Kamurocho, Kiryu finds himself in an illusionary world dominated by a towering castle, where an evil spirit known as Tamazusa has transformed the city into a false reality.
To defeat the supernatural threat, eight chosen warriors are gathered from across time, setting the stage for an original fantasy-inspired adventure unlike anything previously seen in the Like a Dragon series.
Yuya Uno will portray Kazuma Kiryu, with Shuji Kikuchi as Goro Majima, Sho Kato as Ichiban Kasuga, Masamichi Satonaka as Akira Nishikiyama, Hiroto Sakuraba as Taiga Saejima, Ryunosuke Matsumura as Daigo Dojima, James Takeshi Yamada as Eric Tomizawa, Kohei Shiota as Toru Higashi, Shuya Sunagawa as Yoshitaka Mine and Takeru Minato as Fumiya Sugiura.
The production has also announced Yasuhisa Kato in a mystery role, alongside ensemble cast members Seiya Shirasaki, Yuki Kakikawa, Kenta Tanoue, KENTA, Toshimasa Nakadoi, Seigo Naruo and Mizuki Hasebe.
Direction is being handled by Daisuke Nishida, while the original script has been written by Kazuhito Yoneyama specifically for the stage production.
General admission tickets are priced at ¥12,000 for weekday performances (approx. $82 USD / £60 GBP) and ¥13,000 for weekend performances (approx. $89 USD / £65 GBP), with tickets going on general sale through official ticketing channels from August 1, 2026.
Like a Dragon: Kamurocho Hakkenden is scheduled to run for 14 performances at Theater H in Tokyo between August 21 and August 30, 2026.
