Hatsune Miku and Friends Travel Through Time for New Idol Costume Merch Collection

A new merchandise collection combining the evolution of Japanese idol culture and popular virtual singers has been unveiled.

The “Piapro Characters Showa, Heisei, Reiwa Idol” line features Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Megurine Luka, and MEIKO dressed in stage outfits representing three specific historical eras.

This project highlights the changing fashion and atmosphere of the Japanese music scene over the last several decades by employing three different artists to capture the mood of each generation.

The collection begins with the Showa era (1926–1989), illustrated by Kisumi Rei, utilizing nostalgic, retro colors to evoke the early days of the idol phenomenon.

The Heisei era (1989–2019) is interpreted by the illustrator Chon*, focusing on a pop aesthetic with colorful and glittering effects to represent the high-energy idol boom.

The current Reiwa era (2019–Present) is depicted by Bukurote, focusing on a stylish and cool look that mirrors modern trends.

The reservation period opened on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 and it will end on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
