Gundam’s Exclusive New Museum Grade Zaku II Figure Nears US Pre-Order Deadline
Gundam fans in the US have less than 24 hours to add a new museum-styled Zaku II action figure to their collection, as Bandai has confirmed that pre-orders are set to close imminently.
The “Zaku II Wetland Type ver. A.N.I.M.E. ~MS MUSEUM~” figure combines the familiar silhouette of Zeon’s mass-produced mobile suit with an elaborate camouflage finish, extensive weapon selection, and presentation pieces intended to make the completed figure resemble a preserved military exhibit.
Mobile Suit Gundam MSV, short for Mobile Suit Variations, expanded upon the machines of the original Mobile Suit Gundam through model kits, illustrations and supplementary material, introducing numerous specialized and experimental versions that never appeared in the television anime.
Designed by Kunio Okawara, the MS-06J Zaku II Wetland Type was developed from the Ground Type Zaku II for operations in hot and humid regions including the jungles and wetlands of South America.
Waterproofing was applied to numerous components so the mobile suit could operate effectively in these conditions and enter shallow water, while its camouflage helped conceal the machine among dense vegetation.
Bandai’s new figure is based on the previously released Ground Type Zaku II ver. A.N.I.M.E., retaining its approximately 12.5 cm height and highly articulated construction while replacing its familiar colors with the Wetland Type’s much more elaborate appearance.
Original design materials and illustrations were referenced when recreating the camouflage, which is applied across the figure using tampo printing rather than relying on collectors to add the pattern themselves.
Additional markings further develop the military-inspired presentation, while the included display stand and nameplate identify the machine and support the MS MUSEUM concept of presenting the Zaku II as though it were part of a real historical exhibition.
The accessory selection is particularly extensive, providing the Zaku Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, Magella Top Cannon and Heat Hawk alongside a three-tube missile pod that can be mounted to the leg.
Hand grenades, missile effect parts and spare magazines for the weapons are also included, with several connector pieces allowing equipment to be stored directly across the Zaku II’s body.
An interchangeable commander-type head provides another display option, while multiple replacement hands give collectors enough flexibility to move between heavily armed combat poses and the more restrained museum-style presentation.
Pre-orders for the “Robot Spirits MS-06J Zaku II Wetland Type ver. A.N.I.M.E. ~MS MUSEUM~,” priced at $100 USD, can be placed through Premium Bandai US until September 27, 10:59 AM EDT.
Delivery, which will be at no extra cost given the figure hits Premium Bandai US’s $100 free shipping promotion, is currently scheduled for February 2027.
