Gundam ZZ’s Geymalk Returns After 13 Years for Major 40th Anniversary Upgrade

One of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ’s most heavily armed Neo Zeon machines is returning to the ROBOT SPIRITS line after more than a decade, with Bandai giving Geymalk an extensive visual update for the anime’s 40th anniversary.

The new “THE ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Geymalk [Re: Coordinate]” has been revealed as part of a much larger wave of premium Gundam ZZ collectibles, but unlike some of the other anniversary releases, it revisits an existing figure rather than creating the Mobile Suit from scratch.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ originally aired in 1986 as the direct sequel to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, following teenage junk dealer Judau Ashta as he becomes involved with the Argama and ultimately pilots the powerful transformable ZZ Gundam against Haman Karn’s Neo Zeon forces.

Geymalk enters the conflict during the final stages of the First Neo Zeon War as an advanced fourth-generation Mobile Suit piloted by Cyber Newtype Chara Soon.

The AMX-015 was developed specifically around overwhelming firepower, combining a high-output reactor with 26 Mega Particle Cannons positioned throughout its heavily armored frame.

Its Psycommu system pushes those capabilities even further through two Mother Funnels stored on its back, with each carrying smaller Child Funnels that allow Chara to launch attacks from multiple directions away from the Mobile Suit itself.

That firepower makes Geymalk one of the more intimidating machines from the latter part of Gundam ZZ, with Chara using it against Neo Zeon forces including Doven Wolfs and Mass Production Type Qubeleys as the faction’s internal conflict reaches its climax.

Bandai first brought Geymalk to THE ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) line as a general retail release in 2014, and the new Re: Coordinate version retains that original sculpt while substantially changing how the figure looks when displayed.

The biggest alteration is its color palette, with the brighter red armor of the 2014 figure replaced by a reddish-orange finish intended to bring the collectible closer to Geymalk’s appearance in the anime.

Purple areas around the chest and sides of the legs have similarly been changed to a deeper blue, while darker red sections around the hands, feet, and other extremities add further separation across the bulky armor.

Bandai has also revised how the extensive Ka signature markings are applied, replacing the water-slide decals supplied with the original release with markings printed directly onto the figure.

That means collectors no longer need to apply the detailed markings themselves, while retaining the mechanical styling originally supervised by Hajime Katoki.

The approximately 15.5 cm figure otherwise preserves the extensive functionality of the earlier Geymalk, including three interchangeable mono-eye parts that allow its gaze to be repositioned for different poses.

Multiple replacement hands are supplied for neutral poses and firing displays, while the claws beneath the feet can be deployed and the Mega Beam Cannons built into the calves can be moved into their firing positions.

Both Mother Funnels detach from the rear of the Mobile Suit, with interchangeable thruster sections allowing them to be displayed in flight when paired with a compatible stand.

The Child Funnels are also included, allowing the figure to recreate the layered all-range attacks that form such an important part of Geymalk’s combat style.

THE ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] is priced at ¥17,600 (approximately $114 / £85) and is scheduled to ship in February 2027.

Geymalk is only one part of Bandai’s much larger Gundam ZZ 40th anniversary figure project, with several additional machines from the series now confirmed for the premium TAMASHII NATIONS lineup.

The biggest of these is the first-ever ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha, which will bring Ple-Two’s enormous green Neo Zeon Mobile Suit into the range with a new Marking Plus treatment.

Judau’s own machine is represented by a new METAL ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Enhanced ZZ Gundam, combining extensive new exterior parts with die-cast components while retaining its combination and transformation into G-Fortress mode.

Bandai is also preparing a separately sold Full Armor Parts Set that can be attached to the Enhanced ZZ Gundam to recreate the heavily upgraded Full Armor ZZ Gundam.

Japanese pre-orders for the Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] open through Premium Bandai Japan on September 11 at 4:00 PM JST, priced at ¥17,600, and scheduled to ship in February 2027.

The Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] is also available to pre-order through Premium Bandai US, priced at $160 USD, with a release date of March 2027.
