Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO’s New Infinite Justice Gunpla Officially Opens for Pre-Orders
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has officially opened pre-orders for a new Gunpla kit based on the upcoming Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO movie, revealing additional details about its equipment and new configurations.
The “HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam & Booster Unit” recreates Athrun Zala’s Mobile Suit with a newly designed large booster unit and shield that will appear in the new film.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO is the prequel to the hugely successful 2024 movie Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, taking place between the events of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY and the beginning of the later film.

The story follows Shinn Asuka and several returning characters during C.E.74, as the international peacekeeping organization COMPASS is being established following the collapse of Gilbert Durandal’s Destiny Plan.

Athrun’s Infinite Justice Gundam originally appeared during the final stages of Gundam SEED DESTINY, before being replaced by the upgraded Infinite Justice Gundam Type II seen in SEED FREEDOM.

Bandai first revealed the new Gunpla kit during New York Comic Con earlier this month, alongside two additional High Grade releases based on Mobile Suits appearing in the prequel.

For this new release, Bandai has reworked its original High Grade Infinite Justice Gundam kit from 2020, retaining its proportions and articulation system while introducing newly sculpted parts based on the upcoming movie.
One of the biggest additions is the “Hayato no Tate”, a new shield weapon featuring a deployment mechanism similar to the one used by the Immortal Justice Gundam in SEED FREEDOM.

The shield features beam blades that extend from its upper section and two side wings, with Bandai also including a second shield based on the Infinite Justice Gundam’s original equipment.
The kit’s other major addition is a large booster unit that can be mounted on the Mobile Suit’s back, allowing builders to recreate a new aircraft-like silhouette officially described as its booster-attached form.

Additional weapons include a beam rifle and beam sabers, alongside effect parts for recreating various combat poses and a flexible lead wire.
Bandai has used gradient molding for the beam saber effects, providing a gradual transition between colors without requiring additional painting.
The new Gunpla is one of several upcoming releases based on Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO, with Bandai also preparing High Grade kits of the Murasame Kai (Early Production Type) and Gouf Ignited Custom.

The Infinite Justice Gundam is also receiving a separate METAL ROBOT SPIRITS premium figure inspired by its appearance in the prequel, featuring newly sculpted components and a special shield designed for the movie.

Bandai Namco Filmworks has meanwhile confirmed a January 15, 2027 theatrical release for Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO in Japan, with a North American theatrical release scheduled to follow in February.

The “HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam & Booster Unit” is scheduled for release in Japan during February 2027, with a retail price of ¥4,070 (approximately $26 / £19).

Japanese hobby retailers began accepting pre-orders on October 15, 2026, with the kit’s official product name still listed as provisional ahead of release, likely to avoid spoilers for the movie.
Bandai has not yet confirmed an official US release date or availability through international channels such as Premium Bandai US, though international pre-orders usually follow in the days/weeks after orders open in Japan.
