Gundam SEED Announces New Official Album Spanning Over 20 Years of the Cosmic Era

Gundam SEED is collecting songs from across more than two decades of the Cosmic Era into a new album spanning the original anime, SEED DESTINY and SEED FREEDOM.
“Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Series Song Collection SEED SONGS” will feature 15 theme and insert songs released through FlyingDog, including a completely new track whose artist has yet to be revealed.

The collection reaches back to the original Mobile Suit Gundam SEED from 2002 and continues through its sequel SEED DESTINY, subsequent HD remasters and 2024 movie Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.
That gives the album a strong presence from composer Yuki Kajiura and artists closely associated with the series, including See-Saw, FictionJunction and FictionJunction YUUKA, alongside character songs performed by Lacus Clyne and Meer Campbell voice actor Rie Tanaka.

One major name missing from the announced tracklist is T.M.Revolution, despite Takanori Nishikawa’s long association with Gundam SEED through songs including “INVOKE,” “Meteor,” “ignited” and “vestige”.
The absence of T.M.Revolution’s existing Gundam SEED songs is explained by “SEED SONGS” specifically collecting music released through FlyingDog, while his contributions to the series were released through Sony Music.

The completely new 15th track leaves one part of the collection deliberately unresolved, with both its title and artist still being kept secret, though as Nishikawa remains active with Sony Music in 2026, his involvement appears unlikely unless a separate licensing or cross-label arrangement has been made.
Among the previously released songs, two are particularly significant, with See-Saw’s “Sarigiwa no Romantics,” which served as the ending theme for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, appearing on an album for the first time.

FictionJunction’s “Distance,” the ending theme for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Special Edition HD Remaster, is meanwhile appearing on an album dedicated solely to Gundam SEED for the first time.

First-press copies will also receive a limited premium slipcase featuring newly drawn artwork, with the finished jacket illustration still to be revealed.
A jacket-art illustration card will be offered as a common retailer bonus at participating stores, while selected retailers will receive additional exclusives including a B2 poster or oversized jacket artwork.
The collection is also arriving as the music for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO begins to take shape, with longtime SEED composer Toshihiko Sahashi returning to score the movie ahead of its January 15, 2027 opening in Japan.

That soundtrack has now received newly drawn cover artwork featuring Shinn Asuka, Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala, with the CD showing the three pilots with serious expressions while the vinyl edition uses a separate sepia-toned illustration depicting them more calmly.

Sahashi has composed 30 new tracks specifically for FREEDOM ZERO, recorded with a large orchestral arrangement covering both its battle sequences and more character-focused moments.

The movie’s theme song has yet to be announced, leaving another piece of its music to be revealed ahead of release and a possible route for Nishikawa to return after performing SEED FREEDOM’s theme song “FREEDOM” alongside t.komuro.
The “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Series Song Collection SEED SONGS” will be released in Japan on January 16, 2027, one day after Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO opens in cinemas, priced at ¥3,300 (approx. $21 USD / £16 GBP).
