FamilyMart’s Mofusand Collab Returns for Cat Day 2026

FamilyMart has announced the return of its popular “Family Nyart Daisakusen!” (Family Meow-t Operation!) campaign.

This annual event is held in celebration of “Cat Day” in Japan, which takes place on February 22.

The date was chosen because the numerals 2/22 can be read as “ni ni ni” in Japanese.

This sound closely resembles “nyan nyan nyan,” which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat’s meow.

The date has become a nationwide celebration of felines, leading to a surge in cat-themed merchandise and events often referred to as “Nekonomics.”

Now in its fourth year, the campaign features a wide array of food, sweets, and daily goods designed with feline motifs.

A major highlight of the campaign is the collaboration with mofusand, a hit illustration series by the artist Juno.

Mofusand is famous for its fluffy, surreal cats often depicted wearing costumes such as sharks, shrimps, or desserts.

The series has gained immense popularity on social media and through various merchandise lines.

The campaign also features a unique collaboration with Yamato Transport.

Yamato Transport is Japan’s largest door-to-door delivery service, known instantly by its iconic black cat and kitten logo.

Artwork by the “cat specialist” illustrator Coony is also featured on several items.

The lineup includes 17 different items ranging from desserts to savory snacks:

It is a tart topped with strawberry mousse shaped like a cat’s paw pad, filled with smooth chocolate custard.

  • Price: 250 yen (approx. $1.65 USD / £1.30 GBP).

This chewy square waffle is filled with custard cream, features one of 10 branded designs, and includes one random original sticker.

• mofusand Cereal Bowl & White Peach Jelly
  • Price: 960 yen (approx. $6.40 USD / £5.00 GBP).

This set contains white peach jelly and a ceramic cereal bowl available in two designs: “Monster Nyan” or “Kitten.”

• Twin Cat Manju (Caramel Bean Paste)
  • Price: 195 yen (approx. $1.30 USD / £1.00 GBP).

These two steamed buns are shaped like cute cat faces and filled with a caramel-flavoured bean paste.

• Paw Print Mochi Dorayaki (Smooth Bean Paste)

It is a fluffy pancake sandwich containing Hokkaido red bean paste and soft mochi, branded with a paw print.

It is a cocoa omelet cake filled with chocolate crunch cream, topped with a cat-shaped biscuit and a paper pick featuring the Yamato “Kuroneko” characters.

In addition to these products, FamilyMart’s hot snack bags and steamed bun bags will temporarily switch to limited-edition mofusand designs.

This packaging change will begin on February 14, 2026.

A campaign will also run via the Famipay app, offering chances to win exclusive goods.

The items will be available at approximately 16,400 FamilyMart stores nationwide in Japan starting Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
