Exclusive Gundam Base Limited Sazabi Gunpla Kit Returns to the US for Gundam Summer Fest 2026

Premium Bandai US has brought the RG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited Sazabi Mechanical Core Plating back into stock as part of Gundam Summer Fest 2026, giving US builders a rare opportunity to purchase the kit online.
While this kit is a Gundam Base limited release that is normally available in person at official Gundam Base stores, this restock offers US fans the rare opportunity to pick up the kit online without having to head to their nearest Gundam Base store or pop-up store.

Based on Char Aznable’s imposing mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, the kit combines the substantial proportions and extensive mechanical detailing of the RG Sazabi with Bandai’s distinctive Mechanical Core Plating finish.

The finish applies vacuum-deposited plating to the inner surfaces of selected parts, allowing the metallic core details and engraved mechanical textures to remain visible beneath the clear exterior armor.
This creates a sense of depth across the armor while giving the completed Sazabi a denser and more luxurious appearance than the standard RG release, even before the included Realistic Decals are applied.

The metallic inner surfaces also complement the RG Sazabi’s extensive panel separation, exposed cylinders, vents, thrusters, and layered armor, making the internal engineering a major part of the finished model’s visual appeal.
Deployment mechanisms are built into the backpack and vernier sections, allowing the large rear thrusters and surrounding armor to open for a more aggressive full-power display.

Despite its unusually large size for a 1/144-scale Gunpla, the Sazabi retains the broad articulation needed for powerful standing poses, airborne displays, and two-handed weapon configurations.
Its weapon selection includes the Beam Shot Rifle, shield, two Beam Sabers, Beam Tomahawk, six funnels, and multiple effect parts that provide a wide range of close- and long-range display options.

The Beam Tomahawk can be equipped with different effect parts to recreate its smaller axe form or its larger maximum-output configuration, and the weapon can be stored on the rear of the shield when it is not in use.
All six funnels can be stored inside the containers on the backpack or opened into their deployed forms without replacing their individual components.

The funnels can also be displayed in flight with separately sold weapon display bases, making it possible to build a larger battle scene around the already substantial mobile suit.
Additional contents include closed fists, weapon-holding hands, open hands, a dedicated right hand for the Beam Shot Rifle, an Action Base connector, a 1/144-scale Char Aznable figure, and a sheet of Realistic Decals.

With its unusual layered finish, large selection of weapons, deployable equipment, and considerable display presence, the Mechanical Core Plating Sazabi is designed as a premium centerpiece rather than a simple color variation of the standard RG kit.

The RG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited Sazabi Mechanical Core Plating is now back in stock through Premium Bandai US for $249.
Premium Bandai US is offering free shipping on qualifying in-stock orders and pre-orders of $99 or more during Gundam Summer Fest 2026, meaning the Sazabi clears the required purchase threshold on its own.
