Evangelion Racing’s Real-Life Unit-01 and Unit-02 Nissan Silvia’s Inspire New Official Tomica Replica Models
Image by Charlotte DavisEvangelion Racing is turning two of its real Nissan Silvia S15s into official Tomica mini cars, recreating the Unit-01 and Unit-02 liveries used by the motorsport project.
The two releases are based on the “Eva RT Unit-01 Nissan Silvia S15” and “Eva RT Unit-02 Nissan Silvia S15,” with Takara Tomy Arts shrinking the real cars into die-cast models while keeping their Evangelion-inspired colors and racing details.
Evangelion Racing has spent years bringing the franchise into real-world motorsport, using cars and motorcycles wrapped in color schemes based on the Evangelion units alongside character-inspired branding and race queens.
The Unit-01 Silvia uses the familiar purple and green colors associated with Shinji Ikari’s Eva, recreating the livery of the real S15 that appeared as a special Evangelion Racing display vehicle at Fuji Speedway’s NISMO Festival in 2024.
The Unit-02 version takes the same idea in a different direction, covering the Silvia in the red and orange colors associated with Asuka’s Evangelion Unit-02 and recreating a car that appeared at motorsport events including Super Taikyu and FORMULA DRIFT JAPAN during 2025.
Both mini cars use die-cast zinc alloy alongside ABS and MABS parts, with the body graphics designed to reproduce the appearance of their full-size counterparts.
The new releases also continue a wider range of Evangelion Racing miniatures, with the official Evangelion Store already carrying cars based on several machines used by the team.
One previous Tomica release recreated the “Eva RT Unit-01 Toyota Hiace” support vehicle used by Evangelion Racing at competition venues and various events across Japan, complete with detailed sponsor graphics and the same purple and green racing livery.
Other current Evangelion Racing collectibles include a 1/64 scale Unit-02 Silvia S15 from Tarmac Works and a PANDEM GR Yaris based on another Unit-01 machine, with the project’s real cars becoming a regular source of scale-model releases.
Evangelion Racing itself remains active in 2026, with the project competing across categories including Super Taikyu and FORMULA DRIFT JAPAN while also expanding into motorcycle endurance racing.
Earlier this summer, the team joined forces with AutoRace Ube Racing Team for the Suzuka 8 Hours, using a BMW M1000RR finished in a Unit-01-inspired purple and green livery.
The “Tomica Eva RT Unit-01 Nissan Silvia” and “Tomica Eva RT Unit-02 Nissan Silvia” will each be priced at ¥1,500 (approximately $10 USD / £7 GBP).
Pre-orders will open through the Japanese supporter-focused online store Supporto on September 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM JST, with direct sales also planned through Evangelion Racing event booths, motorsport events around Japan, and official Evangelion stores.
Both Tomica models are scheduled to be released between early December 2026 and early January 2027.
