“Elden Ring” film adaptation officially greenlit with A24 and director Alex Garland

Fans of the critically acclaimed action RPG Elden Ring can now look forward to exploring the Lands Between in a whole new medium.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced the commencement of a film project based on the dark fantasy epic, partnering with the renowned independent entertainment company A24.

Elden Ring, co-developed by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment, has been a global phenomenon since its release on February 25th, 2022.

Celebrated for its expansive open world, intricate lore crafted by director Hidetaka Miyazaki and “A Song of Ice and Fire” author George R.R. Martin, and challenging gameplay, the title has surpassed an astounding 30 million units shipped worldwide.

Its success continues with the upcoming release of “ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN”, a cooperative survival action game based on the same world setting, slated for May 30th, 2025.

The cinematic adaptation promises to bring the game’s rich story and stunning visuals to the big screen with a formidable creative team.

Bandai Namco Entertainment will team up with A24, the independent studio known for its critically lauded and often genre-bending films such as “Ex Machina”, “Civil War”, and” Everything Everywhere All at Once”.

Taking the helm as director and screenwriter for the Elden Ring film is Alex Garland, a visionary filmmaker celebrated for his work on thought-provoking and visually striking features like “Ex Machina”, the recently released “Civil War”, and “Warfare”.
