Revealed during the “New Development Super Announcement! Genkida Stage Part 1,” the video projects the original illustrations of creator Akira Toriyama into motion using the latest animation technology.

The project is accompanied by a brand new track titled “Infinite Future,” composed specifically for this piece by Hans Zimmer, the Academy Award-winning composer known for his work on The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Dune.

The presentation stage featured appearances by Masako Nozawa, the voice of Son Goku, and Akio Iyoku, the executive producer of the Dragon Ball series.

Iyoku introduced the project as a way to faithfully translate the diverse expressions found in Toriyama’s original static art into a moving medium.

The production team, led by director Naoki Miyahara (known for his work on The First Slam Dunk and Dragon Ball GT), utilized a combination of various video technologies tailored to the specific characteristics of each illustration.

The result is an animated sequence that retains the unique texture and color of the original manga art while depicting the growth and adventures of the protagonist, Son Goku.

He stated that he was inspired by Toriyama’s “wonderful illustrations and animation” and found the process of creating the music to be both fun and exciting, hoping that fans worldwide would enjoy the final result.

This release caps off a major day of announcements for the franchise.

Earlier at the same event, it was confirmed that a new television anime series, Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, is currently in production, continuing the story of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
