Death Stranding 2 model kit reveals first look at the game’s ‘Ghost Mech Coffins’

Kotobukiya has unveiled a new model kit based on the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 action game “DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH”.
At the Shizuoka Hobby Show, a major Japanese event showcasing model kits and hobby products, Kotobukiya announced its plans to release a plastic model of the “Ghost Mech Coffins”.

“DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH” is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2019 game “Death Stranding” developed by Kojima Productions and the legendary game designer Hideo Kojima.
The original “DEATH STRANDING” saw players traverse a post-apocalyptic United States where a cataclysmic event blurred the lines between the living and the dead, leading to the collapse of civilization.

Players took on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, a porter tasked with reconnecting the fractured nation by delivering essential supplies across a desolate and dangerous landscape while contending with otherworldly creatures and hostile human factions.
The game was lauded for its unique gameplay mechanics centered around traversal and connection, its compelling narrative, and its star-studded cast.

“DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH” is scheduled for release on June 26th, 2025, and anticipation for the sequel has been steadily building, fueled by several cryptic and visually stunning promotional trailers.
The “Ghost Mech Coffins” model kit was showcased as a “decomas”, a Japanese term often used to describe a painted prototype or mock-up of a product.

Kotobukiya’s decision to produce a plastic model of “Ghost Mech Coffins” indicates that it could have a significant role to play within “DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH”.

As of the announcement at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, the release date and pricing details for the “Ghost Mech Coffins” plastic model kit have not yet been determined.
Kotobukiya has stated that further information will be provided at a later date.

The announcement was accompanied by the display of the “Ghost Mech Coffins” decomas alongside the plastic model of the “DHV Magellan”, another vehicle from the “Death Stranding” universe whose model kit release had been previously announced.

Fans of the series will undoubtedly be eager for further details about the mysterious “Ghost Mech Coffins” and its role in the upcoming game.
