Dead by Daylight Announces Official NieR Collab Following Mysterious Teasers
Image by James RichardsonDead by Daylight has officially announced a new crossover with NieR, which will bring Square Enix’s acclaimed action RPG into the multiplayer horror game through a dedicated cosmetic collection.
Behaviour Interactive confirmed the collaboration after spending the previous day teasing players with cryptic videos and messages heavily inspired by NieR’s visual identity.

One of the first teasers used symbols resembling the Angelic script seen throughout the NieR series, immediately prompting fans to begin decoding the message and speculating that a crossover was being prepared.
A second transmission-style message followed with the warning that Dead by Daylight’s communications appeared to have been intercepted, continuing the presentation with interface elements reminiscent of the systems used by YoRHa.

Behaviour subsequently ended the speculation by officially revealing the “NieR Collection” alongside the message that humanity’s fight will continue in the Fog.
Released in 2017 and developed by PlatinumGames, NieR is set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where android forces created by humanity wage war against an invading army of machine lifeforms.

Its story primarily follows YoRHa androids 2B and 9S before expanding to include prototype android A2, gradually uncovering the truth behind the conflict and the forces controlling both sides.
NieR has become by far the most commercially successful entry in the wider NieR franchise, surpassing 10 million physical shipments and digital sales worldwide in February 2026.

The timing places the crossover just months ahead of NieR’s 10th anniversary in February 2027, during a period that has already seen the game appear across several other major collaborations.
Earlier this year, NieR crossed over with Azur Lane through a limited-time event featuring characters including 2B and A2, while its designs have also continued to appear across fashion, figures and other merchandise throughout 2026.

Dead by Daylight has built much of its identity around crossovers, introducing characters and cosmetics from horror properties including Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Halloween and Stranger Things alongside franchises from outside traditional horror.
Tokyo Ghoul became the first anime series to receive a dedicated Dead by Daylight chapter in 2025, transforming Ken Kaneki into the playable Killer known as “The Ghoul”.

Unlike a full chapter, the newly announced NieR crossover is currently being described specifically as a Collection, indicating that the focus will be on cosmetic content for characters already present in Dead by Daylight rather than the introduction of a completely new Killer or Survivor.
Behaviour has not yet revealed which Dead by Daylight characters will receive the NieR-inspired cosmetics or confirmed which characters and designs from NieR will be represented.

That leaves the final lineup as the major unanswered part of the collaboration, with 2B, 9S and A2 among the characters fans will naturally be watching for when the complete collection is shown.
The “NieR Collection” will launch in Dead by Daylight on October 6, 2026, with its full cosmetic lineup and pricing expected to be revealed alongside its release.
