A new, original red wine is being released to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the high-speed mystery action game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.

“Danganronpa: Red Wine of Hope and Despair” is a collaboration with the online sake shop, KURAND.

KURAND has also released similar products based on other popular series, with one notable recent creation being a line of liqueurs based on the popular anime “Cells at Work!”.

Danganronpa, which first launched in 2010, is a beloved mystery series known for its unique worldview, its “Class Trials,” and its shocking, story-driven focus on the themes of “hope” and “despair.”

This new red wine is a celebration of that legacy, and the bottle’s label is a simple and stylish design, including a secondary name for the wine inspired by the iconic red eye of the series’ mascot: “Monokuma’s Crimson Gift”.

The wine itself is a Japanese red, produced at Alps Wine in Yamanashi Prefecture.

It is described as having a “sweet and sour aroma” with a “light acidity,” and is blended to be an easy-drinking, approachable wine.

As a special bonus, each purchase of the “Red Wine of Hope and Despair” will come with a free, original acrylic coaster.

The coaster features a design of Monokuma and one of his famous lines, and its transparent background allows the character to “appear” on any surface it is placed on.
