Classic RPG Tales of Eternia Set to Return on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, Switch, and PC
Bandai Namco and development studio TOSE have officially revealed Tales of Eternia Remastered, a new version of the classic role-playing game that will be released across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The announcement marks the first time Tales of Eternia has received a full remastered edition since its original debut.
Set in the world of Eternia, the story takes place across two separate realms known as Inferia and Celestia, which have long remained isolated from one another.
The adventure begins in the remote Inferian settlement of Rasheans, where protagonist Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Farah Oersted encounter a mysterious young woman named Meredy.
As the group searches for answers regarding Meredy’s origins, they uncover a looming disaster known as the Great Fall, a catastrophic event that threatens the existence of both Inferia and Celestia.
To prevent the destruction of the two worlds, Reid and his companions set out on a journey aided by powerful elemental beings called the Greater Craymels.
Combat is built around the Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System, commonly referred to as A-LMBS, which emphasizes fast-paced action and allows players to chain attacks, utilize a variety of Artes, and coordinate abilities with different party members.
The battle system focuses on fluid two-dimensional combat encounters that reward quick movement, combo execution, and strategic use of each character’s unique skills.
In addition to preserving the original adventure, the remastered release introduces a variety of modern convenience features designed to make gameplay more accessible.
Players will have access to destination markers that help guide progression, an option to disable random enemy encounters, and a high-speed setting that accelerates automatic battles.
The remaster also includes selectable graphics and sound effect options, allowing players to switch between different presentation styles and revisit the atmosphere of the original release if desired.
A Digital Deluxe Edition has also been announced and will include a digital art book, a soundtrack collection, and additional downloadable in-game items.
Tales of Eternia Remastered is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026 in Japan and October 16, 2026 worldwide, with pricing yet to be announced for both the standard and Digital Deluxe editions.
