Chiikawa Bakery Opens First Osaka Store Featuring Exclusive Food and Merch

Chiikawa is expanding its growing bakery brand with the launch of a brand-new location that introduces exclusive menu items, limited merchandise and special opening gifts for visitors.
The new Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA will welcome customers from June 26, 2026, becoming the bakery’s first location outside Tokyo.

Chiikawa is a hugely popular manga and character franchise created by illustrator Nagano, following the everyday adventures of the adorable Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi and their friends through a mixture of heartwarming comedy and unexpected fantasy.

The original Chiikawa Bakery opened in Tokyo’s Harajuku and Omotesando district in October 2024 and has remained a hugely popular destination for fans ever since, with the lovable characters greeting visitors throughout the store.

The bakery’s products have been developed under the supervision of owner chef Junichi Sawada, who represented Japan in the decorative bread category at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie 2026, an international baking competition held in France.

Marking the Osaka opening, Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA will offer an exclusive Chiikawa Takosen Burger inspired by the city’s famous snack culture, featuring a Chiikawa face-shaped topping and available only at the new location for ¥670 (approx. $5 USD / £3 GBP).

Visitors can choose from a wide selection of character-inspired breads that have become favourites at the Tokyo store.

Face-shaped buns include Chiikawa filled with custard cream, Hachiware with chocolate cream and Usagi with caramel cream.

Matching loaves of bread are also available, including a lightly sweet honey-flavoured Chiikawa loaf, a chocolate Hachiware loaf and a mildly savoury cheese-flavoured Usagi loaf.
The bakery’s savoury range includes the Rou Bread inspired by the ramen featured in the series and supplied with a souvenir bowl, the chestnut-filled Kurimanju Bread, the raspberry-filled Bear Pouch Bread styled after a melon bun, sweet sugar-coated Sasumata Stick Pies featuring Chiikawa and Hachiware designs, a cheese-filled Extermination Stick Bread and the Reward Bag Bake containing sweet bean paste and butter filling.

Fans looking for treats to take home can also enjoy the Financier Trio, available in plain, matcha and chocolate flavours and themed around Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi.
Additional baked goods include Kurimanju’s garlic-flavoured crunchy rusks and Chiikawa rusks offered in butter sugar, pancake-style maple cinnamon and spicy curry flavours.

The Osaka store also introduces several location-exclusive merchandise items alongside the standard product range already available at the Tokyo bakery.
Exclusive goods include a mixed fruit jam priced at ¥950 (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP), a natural flat tote bag priced at ¥2,420 (approx. $17 USD / £13 GBP), and a white Chiikawa T-shirt available in M, L and XL sizes priced at ¥3,630 (approx. $25 USD / £19 GBP).

Visitors spending at least ¥2,200 (approx. $15 USD / £11 GBP) will receive one Osaka-exclusive shopper tag while supplies last.

Customers purchasing takeaway drinks will also receive one randomly selected Osaka-exclusive coaster from a choice of three designs, with both opening gifts available only while stocks remain.

Reservations for the bakery are handled exclusively online and include a ¥1,000 (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP) shopping voucher as part of the booking, effectively refunding the booking fee.

Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA will officially open on June 26, 2026, on the third floor of KITTE Osaka in Umeda, operating daily from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM (excluding some holidays).
