Capcom Opens Massive Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Fan Vote

Capcom has officially kicked off a massive fan poll celebrating the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil, giving players the chance to decide the greatest games, characters, creatures, and weapons from across the legendary survival horror franchise.
Resident Evil first debuted in 1996 and helped define the survival horror genre by challenging players to survive terrifying encounters using limited weapons, ammunition and resources while uncovering the mysteries behind deadly biological outbreaks.

Over the past three decades, the series has grown into one of Capcom’s biggest global franchises, selling more than 200 million copies worldwide while expanding into films, animated features, comics and numerous spin-off games.

The franchise’s history is also set to go on display this fall, when the “The World of Biohazard: 30th Anniversary Exhibition” officially opens in Tokyo.

The new “Resident Evil General Election” invites fans to cast votes across a wide range of categories designed to celebrate every corner of the series rather than simply choosing a favorite game.

Players can vote for their favorite Resident Evil title, favorite character, the character they would most like as their boss, the creature that gave them the toughest challenge, the weapon they relied on the most, and several other series-themed rankings.

Character and creature voting is divided by individual game entries, allowing fans to support iconic heroes such as Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine alongside more unusual fan favorites.

The list of candidates also includes memorable characters such as Tofu from Resident Evil 2, the Merchant from Resident Evil 4, and even the infamous dog enemies that have startled players throughout the series.

Voting requires registration for the free “Resident Evil Ambassador” program.

Fans who have not yet joined can create a CAPCOM ID through the Resident Evil Portal before enrolling in the Ambassador program to become eligible to vote.

The final results will be announced after late September 2026 through the Resident Evil Portal and will also be included in the upcoming 30th anniversary commemorative book Nikkei Entertainment! BIOHAZARD 30th Special.

Voting for the Resident Evil 30th Anniversary General Election is open until July 29, 2026, with “Nikkei Entertainment! BIOHAZARD 30th Special” priced at ¥2,420 (approx. $17 USD / £12 GBP), releasing on September 25, 2026.
