Bandai Unveils New Gundam SEED FREEDOM Cavalier Aifrid METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Figure
Bandai Spirits has officially unveiled the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Cavalier Aifrid, bringing one of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM’s most distinctive support units to the premium collector line with a highly detailed die-cast release.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM is the theatrical continuation of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, reuniting Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Lacus Clyne and other familiar characters during a new conflict set within the Cosmic Era timeline.
Released in Japanese cinemas in January 2024, the film introduces several new mobile suits and upgraded machines, with the Cavalier Aifrid playing an important role alongside Athrun Zala’s Infinite Justice Gundam Type II during the movie’s climactic battles.
The AMGS-X18P Cavalier Aifrid is a heavily armed support unit operated by Orb and the battleship Eternal that can function independently or dock with compatible mobile suits, dramatically expanding their combat capabilities across land, sea, air and space.
Beyond its impressive firepower, the unit also incorporates advanced electronic warfare equipment, Mirage Colloid stealth technology and an internal compartment capable of transporting more than ten personnel while functioning as a compact mobile command center.
Standing approximately 16 cm tall, the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Cavalier Aifrid faithfully recreates the machine’s saucer-shaped outer armor, prominent forward sensor arrays, rear thruster system and extensive collection of built-in weaponry.
A combination of metallic and semi-gloss paint applications, detailed printed markings, and die-cast metal construction gives the figure the appearance of a realistic military machine while providing additional weight and stability.
Its Super High-Impulse Cannon and 76 mm autocannon feature articulated barrels, while the missile pod hatches can be opened to reveal the Medium-Range Air-to-Air Guided Missiles stored inside.
Launching alongside the Cavalier Aifrid is the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.), recreating one of the movie’s biggest surprises with an equally detailed premium figure.
While it resembles the classic amphibious mobile suit from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, the SEED FREEDOM version actually conceals Athrun Zala’s ZGMF-X191M2 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II beneath its distinctive outer armor.
The disguise allows the nuclear-powered mobile suit to operate covertly, while the external armor also provides additional protection until the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II is ready to reveal itself in battle.
Standing approximately 15 cm tall, the figure recreates the sleek armor, flexible bellows-style limbs and M2X32E Volantes flight unit, with subtle mechanical details around the elbows, ankles and rear sections hinting at the machine hidden beneath.
Die-cast construction is used throughout key joints and the Slashing Fang Claws, while pull-out shoulder joints, a movable mono-eye, battle-damaged head parts and interchangeable superheated claw effects allow collectors to recreate many of the Z’Gok’s standout action scenes from the film.
The Volantes backpack can also transform into its flight configuration, with extending nose sections and movable wings that switch between Gun Mode and Slashing Mode.
The two releases have been specifically engineered to combine, allowing collectors to recreate the memorable configurations seen throughout the film.
The METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Cavalier Aifrid, priced at ¥18,700 (approx. $119 USD / £88 GBP), will also be available through Premium Bandai Japan as a separate release.
The METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.), priced at ¥20,900 (approx. $133 USD / £98 GBP), will also be available to pre-order through Premium Bandai Japan.
Pre-orders for both figures will open in Japan on August 6, 2026, while Bandai is expected to confirm Premium Bandai US
pricing and availability shortly.
Both releases are currently scheduled to begin shipping in December 2026.
