Bandai Reveals New Gundam Base Exclusive Crystal Effect Haro Gunpla Kit
Image by Charlotte DavisGundam’s Haro is getting a new crystal-clear Gunpla release, transforming the franchise’s spherical robot mascot with an almost completely transparent appearance.
The “HAROPLA THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED Haro (Crystal Clear Color Ver.)” uses clear parts across much of Haro’s exterior, replacing the familiar green body with a finish designed to resemble transparent crystal.
Haro first appeared in the original Mobile Suit Gundam and has since become one of the franchise’s recurring mascot characters, with different versions appearing throughout numerous Gundam anime, games, and multiple merchandise lines such as cherry-blossom themed accessories and winter clothing.
Bandai introduced the dedicated Haropla model kit series in 2018, creating small non-scale Haro kits that combine simple assembly with several moving and interchangeable parts.
The basic Haropla design allows Haro’s side panels to open before separate arms and legs are attached, while the included display base can also be used to store those parts when the model is displayed in its closed spherical form.
Its ear panels can also be opened, while internal mechanical details remain visible beneath parts of the exterior, which should become considerably easier to see through the new transparent body.
Bandai has released several alternative Haropla versions over the years, ranging from character-specific colors to clear releases, Gundam Base designs, and a Gold & Silver Plated Set that launched in 2025.
The Crystal Clear Color version takes a simpler approach by focusing almost entirely on transparency, giving the familiar Haro shape a very different appearance without changing the basic construction of the model.
It is also being released as part of the same new Gundam Base wave as the recently revealed “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Metallic Clear White)”.
Image by Charlotte DavisThat Master Grade kit combines translucent white armor with silver-white metallic parts and glitter-like effects, giving Bandai’s two new releases a shared focus on transparent materials and unusual finishes despite their very different sizes.
Both kits will initially launch through Gundam Base stores in mainland China on September 25, with other stores in the region expected to receive stock afterward.
The “HAROPLA THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED Haro (Crystal Clear Color Ver.)” is priced at CNY 49 (approximately $7 / £6), with Bandai yet to confirm release plans for Japan, the US, or other international markets.
