Bandai Reveals First Look at Gundam: IBO's New and Improved Gundam Vidar Premium Figure

Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans’ Gundam Vidar is officially getting an updated release, as Bandai has teased the return of the mobile suit to its premium METAL ROBOT SPIRITS figure line as part of a new [Re:Coordinate] version.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans first aired in 2015 and takes place in the Post Disaster timeline, following the child soldiers of Tekkadan as they fight for independence against the powerful Gjallarhorn organization.

Gundam Vidar appears during the anime’s second season and is piloted by the mysterious masked soldier Vidar, whose identity is eventually revealed to be Gaelio Bauduin.

The mobile suit conceals the restored Gundam Kimaris Trooper beneath extensive disguise armor, allowing Gaelio to return to battle while hiding both his identity and the true nature of his machine ahead of his eventual transition to Gundam Kimaris Vidar.

Bandai originally released Gundam Vidar in the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS line in November 2020, recreating the mobile suit as a premium articulated figure constructed from ABS, PVC, and die-cast components.

The original release stood approximately 15 cm tall and included Vidar’s 110 mm rifle, handguns, Burst Saber equipment, interchangeable hands, multiple eye-effect parts and a dedicated display stand.

The first teaser for the new [Re:Coordinate] version already shows revised tampo-printed markings across areas including the chest, shoulders and upper arms, giving the armor additional mechanical detailing compared with the earlier figure.

Bandai has previously used the [Re:Coordinate] designation to revisit existing METAL ROBOT SPIRITS releases with updated colors and specification changes, including the recently released Ex-S Gundam [Re:Coordinate] from Gundam Sentinel.

Gundam Vidar’s return also continues Bandai’s recent focus on Iron-Blooded Orphans following the anime’s 10th anniversary, which has brought the Post Disaster timeline back through new figures, Gunpla, apparel and other collectibles.

That includes the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Gundam Marchosias, which joined the premium figure line as part of the anniversary celebrations with an extensive weapon loadout, cloth cape, and die-cast construction.

Vidar has also remained a major part of Bandai’s model-kit lineup, with its modern Master Grade Gunpla kit recreating the mobile suit’s Gundam Frame, Burst Sabers, handguns and deployable Hunter’s Edge equipment in 1/100 scale.
