Bandai Opens Orders for HG 1/144 D Gundam Second

Bandai Spirits has announced a new High Grade plastic model based on a unique side story from the Universal Century.
The “HG 1/144 D Gundam Second” recreates a mobile suit from Double Fake: Under the Gundam, a classic manga series that explores creative mobile suit designs during the early years of the Universal Century.

The story follows the industrial efforts of the Arahas group as they struggle against various threats using modified equipment.

The D Gundam series is famous among fans for its unconventional origins as a worker machine rather than a military weapon.

The original D Gundam was a construction unit that the main character modified out of necessity to defend his ship.
This Second version represents the next stage of its evolution where the frame has been reinforced specifically for combat.

Fans appreciate these designs for their mechanical density and the wide variety of utility tools they include.
The D Gundam Second has now been captured in the High Grade 1/144 scale for the first time in the history of the Gunpla line.

This specific version features several new molded parts to represent its updated styling after being modified by the Arahas team.
The arm-mounted Knuckle Crusher is fully functional and can be deployed for close-range power during an encounter.

A unique interlocking gimmick is built into the thruster sections which causes the internal verniers to extend when the outer panels are opened.
It also includes a massive arsenal often referred to as the “Seven Tools” which contains specialized equipment for different scenarios.

Among these specialized pieces are a drill gun, a rivet gun, a magnet anchor, a bazooka, and a torimochi gun.
Other equipment provided with the unit includes a connected beam rifle, a dedicated shield, wired bombs, and beam sabers.

The connected beam rifle can be linked directly to the backpack using an included lead wire to recreate its power-supply configuration.
A special feature of the shield allows it to store several of the tools such as the magnet anchor and dummy shots.

The price for this detailed mobile suit is 3,080 yen (approx. $20.50 USD / £16 GBP).
Pre-orders began on Thursday, February 26, 2026, exclusively through Premium Bandai.
