Bandai Fully Reveals Gundam Unicorn's Massive New MGSD Kshatriya Gunpla Kit Ahead of Release

One of Gundam Unicorn’s most imposing Mobile Suits is getting a new Gunpla kit, with Bandai fully revealing the upcoming release just days before it goes on sale.

The “MGSD Kshatriya” recreates Marida Cruz’s heavily armed Neo Zeon Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, adapting its huge four-binder silhouette into the compact proportions of Bandai’s MGSD line while retaining the mechanical detail and articulation associated with the series.

Kshatriya was developed as a considerably smaller successor to the huge Quin Mantha while retaining similarly overwhelming firepower, with much of its arsenal and mobility concentrated inside the four enormous binders surrounding the Mobile Suit.

Bandai first announced the new Gunpla earlier this year, making Kshatriya the first non-Gundam Mobile Suit to join MGSD, a line that combines SD-style proportions with detailed inner frames, articulation and mechanical features normally associated with more complex Gunpla grades.

With its September release now just days away, new product images and an early unboxing have provided the most complete look yet at the finished kit and its various features.

The sheer amount of pieces involved immediately sets Kshatriya apart from previous MGSD releases, with the kit becoming the largest entry in the line so far in terms of both its box and overall parts count.

Inside are 28 runners using yellow, white, black, dark gray, purple, red and three different shades of green, allowing much of Kshatriya’s complicated color scheme to be recreated directly through separate molded parts.

The completed model stands close to the roughly 15.5cm height of the existing HGUC Kshatriya despite its exaggerated proportions, while its huge binders give it considerably more width and overall presence than a typical SD Gunpla.

Bandai has also placed considerable emphasis on the inner construction, allowing builders to assemble a detailed internal frame before gradually covering it with Kshatriya’s external armor.

Small details that could easily have been handled with stickers have instead received extensive parts separation, including the chest-mounted Mega Particle Cannon openings, internal thrusters, and the distinctive Sleeves markings across the chest and forearms.

Metallic-looking truss structures inside each of the four binders use Real Metallic Gloss Injection, while clear purple sections within the Funnel containers use Bandai’s Reflection Cut technique to catch and reflect surrounding light.

Kshatriya’s mono-eye is connected to the movement of its head, allowing the eye to follow as the head turns, while removing the chest armor reveals an opening cockpit containing a removable red spherical escape pod.

The shoulders introduce another deployment feature, opening sections of the white armor to expose more of the internal mechanical detail underneath.

Beam Saber storage is built directly into the forearms, while the side and rear skirt armor can be pulled outward at their mounting points to create additional clearance for the legs when posing.

Bandai has also managed to preserve a surprising amount of articulation despite Kshatriya’s bulky proportions, including linked knee armor and multiple joints through the ankles and feet.

The four huge binders contain many of the kit’s main features, with multi-axis support arms allowing each one to move independently around the body.

Pressing an internal mechanism causes the Mega Particle Cannon openings to spread apart like flower petals, while additional concealed sub-arms can deploy from the binders and hold Beam Sabers.

Sections of the binder armor can also be opened to expose the Funnel containers hidden inside, dramatically changing the appearance of the kit when the entire system is deployed.

All 24 Funnels can be individually removed from the four binders, with each one featuring a 3mm connection point that allows separately sold display stands to be used to recreate Kshatriya launching its complete Funnel arsenal.

That full attack also forms the centerpiece of the newly revealed box artwork, which shows Kshatriya surrounded by its deployed Funnels.

The finished kit includes Beam Sabers and marking stickers, while its extensive color separation, internal construction, and moving mechanisms make it one of the most complex MGSD releases so far.

The “MGSD Kshatriya” will be released in Japan on September 26, 2026, and is priced at ¥7,700 (approximately $49 USD / £37 GBP).

As a general retail Gunpla kit, the MGSD Kshatriya is also likely to begin appearing through hobby retailers internationally, including in the US, in the months following its initial Japanese release, although pricing and exact availability will vary by retailer.
