ANNA SUI and Sanrio team up for new My Melody & Kuromi handkerchief line
A new collaboration has been announced between the fashion brand ANNA SUI and the Sanrio characters My Melody and Kuromi, in partnership with the long-established handkerchief maker, Blooming Nakanishi.
This new product line is being released to celebrate two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of My Melody and the 20th anniversary of her friendly rival, Kuromi.
Blooming Nakanishi is a historic company, founded in 1879, that specializes in high-quality handkerchiefs and other textile goods.
The theme for this new collaboration is an “American Diner,” and it is based on new, original artwork that depicts the two characters in a retro and cute diner setting.
The playful designs also feature a hidden motif of a cream soda inspired by the designer Anna Sui herself.
ANNA SUI recently released another set of goods based on the same theme, which included a range of bags and phone accessories.
This new collection features a wide range of handkerchiefs, towels, and other accessories.
The full product lineup is as follows:
- Printed Handkerchiefs (3 varieties): ¥2,530 each
A standard-sized handkerchief that uses the exclusive collaboration art, featuring ANNA SUI’s iconic motifs scattered throughout the American diner scene.
- Towel Handkerchief with Appliqué (3 colors): ¥1,100 each
A soft and absorbent towel handkerchief featuring techniques like three-dimensional weaving and appliqué embroidery, with a printed appliqué that matches the towel’s color.
- Deluxe Towel Handkerchief with Lurex & Frills (3 colors): ¥1,650 each
A luxurious handkerchief perfect for the anniversary year, made with a pile fabric that has Lurex thread mixed in, and decorated with frills and embroidery.
- Gathered Frill Towel Handkerchief (3 colors): ¥2,750 each
A cute towel handkerchief with a large amount of gathered frills, made with a wrinkle-resistant polyester material for the frills.
- Zipper Towel (2 colors): ¥1,980 each
A towel handkerchief with a zipper that allows it to be used as a pouch for storing a drink bottle or other small items, decorated with a 3D ribbon and pearls.
- Pouch (3 colors): ¥3,850
A cute pouch with frills and a foil print, which has a wide bottom gusset that allows it to stand on its own, and an inner lining that uses the exclusive collaboration art fabric.
- Tote Bag (3 colors): ¥4,950
A frilled tote bag designed to be paired with the pouch, with a large gusset that makes it perfect for a variety of uses, from daily outings to a secondary bag.
The new “ANNA SUI x MY MELODY KUROMI” collection is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, the 17th of September, 2025.
It will be available for purchase at ANNA SUI handkerchief counters in department stores across Japan and on the official Blooming Nakanishi “Handkerchief Gallery” online shop.
The collection will also receive a later release at select Sanrio Shops and on the Sanrio Online Shop starting from late September.
