Anime Powerhouse Toei Announces Massive Expansion Into Gaming Industry

Japanese entertainment giant Toei has officially announced a massive expansion into the video game market.
To celebrate its upcoming 75th anniversary in 2026, the historic film and television producer is launching a dedicated video game publishing arm titled “Toei Games”.

Founded in 1951, the corporation is famous for producing highly successful live-action cinema, iconic tokusatsu television shows like Kamen Rider, and hit anime series including Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Sailor Moon.

This ambitious new publishing venture aims to establish video games as a core pillar of the company’s business alongside its traditional media and event offerings.
The gaming division will initially focus its efforts on the PC market, launching its debut titles globally through the massive Steam storefront.

Executives plan to eventually expand these interactive releases onto home consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
Rather than relying on its massive back catalog of existing properties, the label is determined to create entirely new original intellectual properties built from the ground up.

The publisher has partnered with talented creators from both Japan and overseas to develop these brand-new gaming experiences.
To give the new brand a distinct visual identity, the team partnered with Kairosoft, the beloved developer behind dozens of hit pixel-art simulation games.

Kairosoft designed the official “Toei Games” brand logo and created a special pixel-art animation of the iconic waves crashing against rocks that traditionally opens Toei’s theatrical films.

Toei staff members were such massive fans of the developer’s quirky art style that they visited the Kairosoft headquarters in person to directly request the collaboration.
Company President Fumio Yoshimura shared his hopes that this new venture will help deliver the studio’s storytelling expertise to a global audience.

He noted that this expansion aligns perfectly with the company’s “TOEI NEW WAVE 2033” long-term vision of crossing borders and languages through entertainment.
Eager fans won’t have to wait long to see what the company is working on, as the initial lineup of debut games is scheduled to be revealed on Friday, April 24, 2026.
