Adorable New Sanrio x Godzilla Collab Merch Turns Kaiju Into Kawaiiju

Godzilla and Sanrio have revealed a brand-new collaborative merch collection, bringing some of Sanrio’s most popular characters into the world of the King of the Monsters through a series of adorable designs.

Godzilla first debuted in 1954 and has become one of Japan’s most iconic pop culture characters, starring in dozens of films, television projects, games and collectibles over the past seven decades, while Sanrio’s cast of lovable characters continues to captivate fans of all ages around the world.

The Sanrio x Godzilla collaboration, which was first announced in late 2025 through a series of character pairing reveals, imagines the Sanrio characters dressed in oversized Godzilla-themed costumes, giving them the appearance of proudly stepping into the legendary monster’s shoes while retaining their own unmistakable personalities.

For the crossover, both Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll have been paired with Godzilla (1954), whilst Pom Pom Purin and Hangyodon are paired with Gojira and Godzilla’s 1995 designs.

Finally, My Melod and Kuromi are paired with Godzilla’s Fourth Form from 2016’s Shin Godzilla, with My Sweet Piano also paired with Godzilla’s Second Form from the same film.

A total of seven different types of Sanrio x Godzilla merchandise will be available for fans to collect, ranging from plush mascots and keychains to stationery and everyday lifestyle items.

The Mascot Plush collection, priced at ¥3,080 each (approx. $21 USD / £15 GBP), includes Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, My Sweet Piano, My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin and Hangyodon, each wearing their own Godzilla-inspired costume.

The Die-Cut Sticker collection, priced at ¥660 each (approx. $5 USD / £3 GBP), is available in three designs featuring My Melody & Kuromi, Hello Kitty & Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin & Hangyodon.

The Flake Sticker Set, priced at ¥1,100 (approx. $8 USD / £5 GBP), expands the collaboration with a collection of smaller decorative stickers inspired by the crossover artwork.

The Triple Acrylic Keyholder collection, priced at ¥1,100 each (approx. $8 USD / £5 GBP), is also available in three designs pairing My Melody & Kuromi, Hello Kitty & Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin & Hangyodon.

The Random Mini Acrylic Stand collection, priced at ¥660 each (approx. $5 USD / £3 GBP), features ten possible designs including My Melody, Kuromi, Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Hangyodon, the three character pairings and one secret design, with each figure supplied in blind packaging.

The Embroidered Mini Towel collection, priced at ¥990 each (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP), features Hello Kitty & Cinnamoroll, My Melody & Kuromi and Pompompurin & Hangyodon designs.

The Melamine Tumbler, priced at ¥935 (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP), rounds out the first wave with a practical everyday item decorated with the collaboration artwork.

The Three-Dimensional Mascot Keyholder collection, priced at ¥1,430 each (approx. $10 USD / £7 GBP), features Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Kuromi, My Sweet Piano, Pompompurin and Hangyodon in miniature Godzilla costume form.

All items in the GODZILLA × SANRIO CHARACTERS collection will launch on July 22, 2026, except the Three-Dimensional Mascot Keyholders which will launch later in August 2026.

The collection will be available through physical Godzilla Store location and the official Toho online store, as well as major Japanese retailers and specialty stores including Don Quijote, Bic Camera and Edion, amongst others.
