Last Updated on March 5, 2026

Nanrakuen Garden in Ehime Prefecture is preparing to host its annual plum festival to celebrate the arrival of spring.

The event will showcase the beauty of approximately 160 trees as they reach full bloom across the expansive grounds.

Visitors can expect to receive complimentary cups of plum tea along with traditional amazake made from fermented rice.

The festivities also include servings of zenzai, a sweet red bean soup containing soft mochi, offered to those exploring the garden.

Local vendors will provide a selection of plants and flowers for purchase for visitors who wish to bring a piece of the season home.

The park is known for its seasonal beauty and will follow this celebration with upcoming events dedicated to cherry blossoms and irises.

Access to the garden is available for a small fee for adults while students and those over sixty-five years of age qualify for a discount.

Travelers can reach the venue by taking a bus from JR Uwajima Station which is a major stop on the Yosan and Yodo rail lines.
