Mount Tsukuba Plum Festival 2026
Last Updated on March 5, 2026

The upcoming Mount Tsukuba Plum Festival is set to transform the scenic hillsides of Ibaraki Prefecture into a vibrant display of early spring color.
Located within the expansive Mount Tsukuba Plum Garden, the event will feature approximately one thousand plum trees showcasing a variety of red and white blossoms.
Visitors can climb to the observation stand at the peak of the garden to take in panoramic views of the surrounding Kanto region.
On days with high visibility, the horizon may reveal the distant skyscrapers of the Tokyo skyline and the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji.
This annual celebration of nature is open to the public with no admission fee required for entry.
Those planning to arrive by car can reach the venue via a thirty minute drive from the Tsuchiura Kita Interchange on the Joban Expressway, where complimentary parking will be provided.
Travelers opting for public transportation should take the Joban Line to Tsuchiura Station and then board a local bus bound for Tsukubasanguchi.
After a fifty minute bus ride, a short fifteen minute walk will lead guests directly to the heart of the floral displays.
The festival highlights the natural beauty of one of Japan’s most famous peaks, known for its twin summits and spiritual significance.
