Machida Sakura Festival 2026

Last Updated on March 10, 2026

The city of Machida in western Tokyo is preparing to host its annual Sakura Festival, an event that celebrates the arrival of spring with stunning floral displays across multiple locations.

Primary festivities are scheduled to take place at Serigaya Park and along the banks of the Yamazaki River, where hundreds of cherry trees are expected to reach full bloom.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of cultural performances, including traditional music and dance, which will be held on stages set up within the park grounds.

Local vendors will offer a wide array of seasonal snacks and Japanese festival foods, allowing attendees to enjoy a classic hanami experience under the canopy of pink blossoms.

The Yamazaki River area will feature a picturesque walking path where the branches of Yoshino cherry trees lean over the water, creating a tunnel of petals that is a favorite for photographers.

Organizers have planned various family friendly activities and craft workshops to engage the community and celebrate the natural beauty of the region.

In addition to the main sites, several smaller parks and green spaces throughout Machida will participate by showcasing their own flowering trees and local decorations.

Access to the main festival venues is convenient via public transportation from Machida Station, with shuttle buses often provided to help guests navigate between the different event zones.
