Zeta Gundam and Iron-Blooded Orphans confirmed for 2nd Gundam Card Game Booster Pack set

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam has been confirmed as one of the featured titles in the second Gundam Card Game booster pack set, titled “Dual Impact”.

This information was revealed during the BANDAI CARD GAMES Next Plan Announcement broadcast on Friday, June 12th.

The Gundam franchise, which originated in 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam, has evolved into a multimedia phenomenon encompassing anime, manga, video games, and model kits (Gunpla).

The decision to launch a new global trading card game (TCG) is part of BANDAI’s strategy to unify its diverse fan base across different regions with a single overarching range of products.

This new TCG aims to bring together mobile suits and characters from various Gundam timelines and universes, allowing players to build decks with their favorite units regardless of their original series.

Zeta Gundam, which aired from 1985 to 1986, is widely regarded as a pivotal and darker sequel to the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime.

It introduced iconic Mobile Suits like the Zeta Gundam itself, the Hyaku Shiki, and the Gundam Mk-II, alongside a complex narrative involving the AEUG, Titans, and Axis Zeon.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is one of the more modern entries in the Gundam franchise, and is known for its grounded take on mobile suit combat and space colonization.

Three other series will also be included in the “Dual Impact” booster pack and enter the card game for the first time.

All of the new series featured in “Dual Impact” will be:

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A classic Universal Century (UC) era series, known for its dramatic story and influential mecha designs.

After War Gundam X: A post-apocalyptic series that takes place in the aftermath of a catastrophic war.

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: A series spanning multiple generations of Gundam pilots fighting the same war.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: A gritty series following a group of juvenile soldiers on a futuristic Mars.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: The latest Gundam anime series, set in an alternate version of the Universal Century timeline.

In addition to these new entries, several titles that were featured in the game’s first booster pack will continue to have cards released in “Dual Impact”, ensuring continuity and expanding their card pools.

The continuing titles include:

Mobile Suit Gundam: The original series detailing the war between Earth and its space colonies.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: A highly popular series from the mid-1990s and the first Gundam series to air on Western TV.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: A commercially successful and influential series from the early 2000s.

Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Unicorn): A popular Universal Century OVA series adapted from a series of novels.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury: A recent hit series that featured the Gundam series’ first female protagonist.

The total number of titles participating in the Gundam Card Game has now expanded to ten and encompasses a broad spectrum of the franchise’s history and recent entries.

The inclusion of Zeta Gundam and other Gundam series is expected to excite long-time fans and contribute significantly to the strategic depth and diversity of the Gundam Card Game.

The “Dual Impact” Booster Pack set will be released on October 25th.
