UNIQLO announces huge new Studio Ghibli collaboration – see all the designs

UNIQLO has revealed a collaboration with Studio Ghibli that will see them release a number of shirts and sweaters that take inspiration from their famous animated films.
The Japanese fashion company earlier released a teaser video on its official UT Instagram account strongly hinting at an upcoming collaboration with Studio Ghibli.

The brief video sparked excitement among fans, as it suggested that a new collection of UT graphic T-shirts may soon arrive featuring characters and imagery from the famous Japanese animation studio.
Shortly after the release of the trailer, the full Studio Ghibli collection was revealed on the Uniqlo Thailand website.
Studio Ghibli, co-founded by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, is an internationally acclaimed animation studio celebrated for its breathtaking hand-drawn animation, profound storytelling, and memorable characters.

Their films, including classics like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and the recent Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron, have received critical acclaim and have built the studio a global following thanks to their success.
The teaser video on the official UT Instagram account begins with a split screen, displaying both the Studio Ghibli logo and the Uniqlo logo side by side.

Following this, the video transitions to an illustration from Studio Ghibli’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron.

This raised the possibility that the collaboration would likely feature designs inspired by this film, alongside other fan-favorite Ghibli films.

It is important to note that the Instagram account where this teaser was posted is primarily aimed at international users.
As of the current time, there has been no corresponding announcement or information released from Uniqlo’s official Japan account.
Full details of the t-shirts and Studio Ghibili films that will feature in the collaboration have been confirmed on Uniqlo’s Thai website.

This leaves open the question of whether this particular collaboration will be available simultaneously in Japan or if it will only be available for international markets.
The majority of UNIQLO UT collections have been available both in Japan and internationally, but some past collaborations have had regional variations or staggered release dates.
Past Studio Ghibli UT collaborations have seen availability in various Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and sometimes in other regions.
The collection is designed to capture the very “essence of Studio Ghibli’s world” and UNIQLO has stated that key points in the collection’s offerings will include:
- Iconic Film Art and Posters: Many designs will directly feature key visuals, memorable scenes, and iconic characters drawn from the eight featured Ghibli films. This direct use of celebrated movie imagery allows fans to wear their favorite cinematic moments.
- Original Illustrations:
- The collection will also showcase original character illustrations, providing fresh artistic interpretations that go beyond direct film stills.
- Artwork by Kanyada:
- A highlight of this collection is the inclusion of unique artwork created by Thai artist Kanyada Phatan. Kanyada is known for her contributions to Studio Ghibli’s monthly publication “Neppu”.
The featured films in this extensive collection include:

- My Neighbor Totoro
