SEGA has officially released the second volume of its SEGA Cooro mascot plush series, expanding the lineup with beloved characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The SEGA Cooro brand is defined by its palm-sized form factor, designed to fit snugly in the hand with a round, rolling aesthetic that emphasizes cuteness and portability.

Each plush toy includes a ball chain for easy attachment to bags or accessories.

While this second wave focuses specifically on characters from the “Dreamcast era” of the Sonic series, the brand originally debuted last year with a larger roster of characters.

The first wave of SEGA Cooro plushies launched on July 18, 2025, and featured nine characters from two of SEGA’s most popular franchises.

That initial lineup included Sonic himself, along with his loyal companions Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, as well as his rival Shadow the Hedgehog and the antagonist Dr. Eggman.

It also featured characters from the Yakuza (Like a Dragon) series, including the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, the charismatic Ichiban Kasuga, and the unpredictable Goro Majima.

For this second release, the focus shifts to specific fan favorites from the Sonic Adventure era.

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which began in 1991, originally focused on high-speed platforming but expanded significantly in the late 1990s with the introduction of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.

These games introduced a deeper narrative and new gameplay mechanics that remain popular with fans decades later.

The first character in this new set, the Chao, represents the artificial life forms that debuted in Sonic Adventure.

These small, emotive creatures live in “Chao Gardens” where players can raise them, feed them, and influence their evolution into Hero or Dark alignments.

The Chao Garden feature became a cult phenomenon, with many players spending more time raising their digital pets than playing the main action stages, making the Chao an enduring mascot for the series alongside Sonic himself.

The second character, Maria Robotnik, is a rarer addition to merchandise lineups.

Maria plays a central role in the backstory of Sonic Adventure 2 as the granddaughter of Professor Gerald Robotnik and the childhood friend of Shadow the Hedgehog.

Living aboard the Space Colony ARK, her tragic fate serves as the primary motivation for Shadow’s actions, making her one of the most significant human characters in the franchise’s history.

Her inclusion in the SEGA Cooro line allows fans to own a stylized version of a character who is often only seen in flashbacks or story cutscenes.

These new plush mascots are currently available at the SEGA STORE TOKYO, located on the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo.
