Tokyo’s Pokémon Cafe Set to Close in March 2026

The original Pokémon Cafe in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, will be closing its doors this spring to undergo a series of planned renovations.
Fans of the pocket monster-themed eatery will need to plan their visits soon, as the closure is scheduled to begin on March 23, 2026.

Located on the 5th floor of the Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building, the Pokémon Cafe has become a staple destination for tourists and local fans alike.
The cafe is popular with fans due to its warm, wooden interior and its immersive dining experience where guests can enjoy themed meals alongside a variety of Pokémon-inspired décor.

The renovation period is expected to last approximately three months, with the cafe currently slated to reopen in late June 2026.
Management has noted that the closure period may be subject to change without prior notice, depending on the progress of the construction work.

The Nihonbashi location originally opened in 2018 as the first permanent Pokémon cafe in the world.
This upcoming renovation marks one of the most significant updates to the venue since its debut, promising an even more polished experience for fans of the series.

Specific details regarding the grand reopening date and any potential new features or menu items following the renovation will be announced at a later date via the official Pokémon website and social media channels.

For those looking to get their Pokémon cafe fix during the Tokyo closure, the dessert-themed Pikachu Sweets by Pokémon Cafe store in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district will remain open and continue to operate as usual, as will the Pokémon Cafe in Shinsaibashi, Osaka.
