Tokyo’s new “Pokémon Mega Stamp Rally” will offer fans an exclusive trading card for riding trains

East Japan Railway Company/JR East has launched its annual summer stamp rally in collaboration with the Pokémon anime series.
This large-scale event, titled the “JR East Pokémon Mega Stamp Rally 2025,” is a popular summer tradition for families and fans, encouraging travel across the extensive JR East train network.

The rally sets up unique stamp stations at various train stations, this year featuring characters from the current anime series, such as Captain Pikachu, as well as Mega Evolved Pokémon like a shiny black Rayquaza.

The event is broken into multiple courses of increasing difficulty, with exclusive prizes awarded for the completion of each stage.
Participants begin with a stamp book for STAGE 1, a “6-Station Course” where they can choose any six of the 36 participating stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Upon completing this first stage and presenting their stamped book at a participating NewDays convenience store, they will receive a “Jumbo Card ‘Pikachu ex'” for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, as well as the stamp book for the next stage.

STAGE 2 is a “12-Station Course” that requires visiting twelve specific stations.
Its completion prize is a “Special Frienda Pick” of a special Mega Lucario for the “Pokémon Frienda” arcade game, along with a special clear multi-case.

STAGE 3, the “36-Station Course,” challenges participants to visit all participating stations in the metropolitan area to earn a special key ring.

An “EXTRA STAGE,” the “Shinkansen Course,” requires participants to travel via bullet train to one of six major regional stations, including Sendai and Niigata, to receive a special medal featuring the black Rayquaza.

For those who want to tackle all the courses from the start, a “Special Edition” stamp book with spaces for all stages can be purchased at NewDays stores.
The “JR East Pokémon Mega Stamp Rally 2025” begins today, Friday, the 18th of July, and is scheduled to run until the 31st of August, 2025.
More information can be found on the official website.
For Pokémon fans in the west of Japan, a different Mega Evolution-themed stamp rally is currently being held in Osaka, taking place in the area surrounding Umeda Station until the end of October 2025.
