The next Yoshi game is a storybook adventure for the Nintendo Switch 2

A new stand-alone Yoshi game has been officially announced, titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
The new game was revealed in a trailer shown during a Nintendo Direct presentation on the 12th of September.

This new adventure features a unique, storybook-like premise.
The game’s story begins when a peculiar, talking book named “Mr. E” suddenly falls from the sky onto the island where Yoshi and his friends live.

The pages of this mysterious book contain information about various unusual creatures.

To help investigate these creatures, Yoshi must enter the world inside the book itself.

The core gameplay loop is based on discovery.

Players will use Yoshi’s classic abilities, such as his long tongue for licking and his ability to carry objects on his back, to interact with the strange creatures and the environment to gather information.

The trailer showed an example of this gameplay, where Yoshi used a creature that absorbs nutrients to create a crack in a rock wall, allowing him to progress.
By making these discoveries, players will gradually fill in the pages of the magical book.

The announcement of a new, traditional-style Yoshi game has been met with a positive reception from fans, with many on social media comparing its charming aesthetic to the 1995 classic, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2.

A specific price for the new game has not yet been announced, but it has been confirmed that it is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2026.
