The Hatsune Miku x Sonic collab’s latest song is a tribute to Shadow the Hedgehog

Sega has released the third track from its special “Project ONSOKU” musical collaboration between Sonic the Hedgehog and the virtual singer Hatsune Miku.
“Project ONSOKU” is a major collaboration that features five original songs from five different acclaimed Vocaloid producers, which are being released sequentially each week.

The first song, “Saiai Jinsei Runner” by Kairiki Bear, was released on the 28th of August, and was followed by “We Are Picopico Hammers!!!!” by cosMo@Bousou-P on the 1st of September.

This new, third song is titled “Jet Black,” and it was written and composed by the sound producer and composer, Yunosuke.
The track is themed around the iconic anti-hero of the Sonic series, Shadow the Hedgehog, and its jacket illustration was created by the popular artist, FAMY.

In a comment, Yunosuke stated:
“The first time I met Sonic was when I was in elementary school. I remember playing with my friends at their houses, taking turns.
Shadow was my favorite character at the time, and I can say without a doubt that the music of Sonic Mania has been the biggest influence on me in the past few years.
I am honored to be able to color the world of this inseparable ‘Sonic’ series with my own music. I hope you’ll enjoy my heartfelt song, ‘Jet Black.'”
The full release schedule for the remaining two songs has also been confirmed:
- September 15th: “Treasure Garden” by Ponchi♪
- September 22nd: “Denkousekka” by Camellia
All five of the collaboration songs will be included as in-game background music in the upcoming racing game, Sonic Racing Cross Worlds.

It has also been confirmed that Hatsune Miku will be added to the game as a playable racer in a free DLC update, complete with her own original machine, the “Diva Machina.”
