Square Enix Opens International Ticket Sales for Final Fantasy’s Official 40th Anniversary Exhibition
Image by Charlotte DavisSquare Enix has officially opened international ticket sales for its huge Final Fantasy 40th anniversary exhibition, making it much easier for overseas visitors to secure admission ahead of its launch in Tokyo next January.
The “Neverending Journeys FINAL FANTASY 40th Anniversary Exhibition” will take over the Hyokeikan at Tokyo National Museum for almost three months, celebrating four decades of Final Fantasy through memorable scenes, music, video presentations, and interactive exhibits spanning the RPG series.
Square Enix is also working with cultural properties held by Tokyo National Museum for the event, creating new displays that connect imagery from Final Fantasy with works from the museum’s collection.
Tickets for the first phase of the exhibition, covering visits from January 8 through February 5, 2027, are now available to international fans.
All tickets are tied to a specific date, with visitors choosing either a morning admission period beginning at 9:30 AM or an afternoon slot beginning at 1:30 PM.
Early-bird admission for the first phase costs ¥3,200 (approximately $20 / £15) for adults, ¥2,400 (approximately $15 / £11) for university, vocational and high school students, and ¥1,100 (approximately $7 / £5) for elementary and junior high school students.
A more expensive “+9999” merchandise ticket is also available, priced at ¥13,199 (approximately $83 / £63) for adults, ¥12,399 (approximately $78 / £59) for students and ¥11,099 (approximately $70 / £53) for children.
The special ticket includes a framed pin badge set featuring logos from throughout Final Fantasy’s history, with quantities limited and sales ending once the available allocation has been exhausted.
Every qualifying visitor will also receive one exhibition-exclusive “SQUARE ENIX GALLERY CARD -EXTRA EDITION 01-” design, with two different cards available at random during each of the event’s three phases.
The first pair combines Final Fantasy imagery with cultural works from Tokyo National Museum, featuring Peacock Wisdom King with Final Fantasy XVI’s Joshua Rosfield and Utagawa Hiroshige’s “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido: Nihonbashi” with Final Fantasy XIV’s Kugane.
Those cards connect directly with Square Enix’s wider 40th anniversary plans, as the company is launching the new 180-card “SQUARE ENIX GALLERY CARDS Vol.1 FINAL FANTASY 40th Anniversary Collection” on January 8, the same day the exhibition opens.
The second phase of the exhibition will run from February 6 through March 5, followed by a final phase from March 6 through April 4, with international ticket details for those dates still to be announced.
“Neverending Journeys FINAL FANTASY 40th Anniversary Exhibition” will run from January 8 through April 4, 2027, at the Hyokeikan inside Tokyo National Museum in Ueno.
International tickets for the opening phase are now available through Asoview!, with Klook and Trip.com set to be added as further booking options at a later date.
