Square Enix announce FINAL FANTASY IX 25th anniversary pop up events
Square Enix has announced a special event to celebrate FINAL FANTASY IX’s 25th anniversary.
A new “SQUARE ENIX POP UP STORE” will be held at Daimaru Umeda (Osaka) and Daimaru Tokyo for a limited-time, giving fans the opportunity to shop merchandise and enjoy a specially created mini exhibition.
The “SQUARE ENIX POP UP STORE” will showcase a wide array of products from the developer’s most well known franchises, including a huge selection of FINAL FANTASY IX goods.
Merchandise for the iconic “Dragon Quest” and “Kingdom Hearts” will also be available for fans to pick up.
For the FINAL FANTASY IX 25th anniversary, the pop-up will feature commemorative illustration panels and interactive photo spots.
These exhibits will include deformed illustrations by Itahana Toshiyuki, an artist involved in the game’s original development and popular artwork from the series.
Vocal scores from the development process of FINAL FANTASY IX will also be on display, allowing fans a rare look at some valuable production documents.
A “FINAL FANTASY IX 25th ANNIVERSARY × DAIMARU MATSUZAKAYA COLLECTION” collaboration pop-up will also be held in the same locations across the same dates.
This partnership with Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store will offer exclusive apparel and miscellaneous goods that explore the world of “FINAL FANTASY IX” and provide fans with a luxury experience.
A special shopping campaign will run alongside the pop-up stores – customers who spend over 5,500 yen (including tax) will receive a free rubber coaster on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission to both events is free and no prior booking is required, however if the venue does become crowded a numbered ticketing system may be put in place to avoid congestion.
