Sonic the Hedgehog lends his voice to the Waze navigation app

Sega of America and the popular navigation app Waze have announced a new partnership that brings the iconic blue blur, Sonic the Hedgehog, to the road.
Starting today, Waze users around the world can activate a variety of new, Sonic-themed features to make their daily commute a little more super-sonic.

Waze is a free navigation app for drivers that uses real-time, user-submitted data to provide live traffic updates and suggest the best possible routes.
This new collaboration allows users to customize their in-app experience with the sights and sounds of the Sonic franchise.

The new features include a special voice navigation pack, which allows users to receive their turn-by-turn directions from Sonic the Hedgehog himself.
This new voice pack is available in both English and French.
In addition to the new voice, users can also change their in-app vehicle icon to the “Speedster Lightning” car from the recent Sega racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

A new, Sonic-themed “Energetic” mood can also be selected for the map display.
This new collaboration is part of the lead-up to the 35th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which will be celebrated in 2026.

Sega has teased that more announcements and celebrations are still to come over the next year.
The new, Sonic-themed add-on is available now for all Waze users.
