Shinji, Rei, and Asuka are coming to Granblue Fantasy for new Evangelion collab
A new collaboration event between the hit mobile RPG Granblue Fantasy and the iconic Evangelion anime franchise has been officially announced.
The event, titled “Granblue Fantasy x Evangelion: Bonds of Phantasmal Blue,” is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 5.
Granblue Fantasy is a globally popular RPG known for its deep turn-based combat and frequent, high-profile collaborations.
Evangelion is a legendary anime franchise that began in 1995, renowned for its complex narrative, deep lore, and profound cultural impact.
The crossover will feature an original story where the Granblue crew, along with Shiro and Robomi, are summoned to Hitakamino Island by the mysterious NERV organization.
There, they will meet Evangelion pilots Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Shikinami, and Mari Illustrious Makinami to investigate strange local creatures and relics of the Star People.
The event will feature a massive amount of free rewards for participating players, including two free playable characters.
A new “Collab-limited Gacha” will also be held, and players can earn a total of five free 10-pull tickets for this gacha by completing event missions and the “NERV Enlistment Exam.”
Here is a look at the free items available during the event:
- Character: Shinji & Evangelion Unit-01
This character unit, featuring the voice of Megumi Ogata, joins the player’s party after clearing the event’s opening interlude.
- Character: Rei & Evangelion Unit-00
This character unit, featuring the voice of Megumi Hayashibara, joins after clearing Chapter 4, Episode 4, which will be added to the event on November 10.
- Summon: Mari & Evangelion Unit-08
This summon, featuring the voice of Maaya Sakamoto, can be acquired by exchanging event-specific treasures.
- Weapon: Spear of Longinus (General Purpose)
This event-exclusive weapon can also be acquired via treasure trade and can be fully uncapped by playing high-difficulty battles.
- Other Rewards
Players can also trade event treasures for valuable items like a “Legend 10-Pull Gacha Ticket” and “Damascus Crystals” as well as carry out missions to earn rewards.
The event will also feature special in-battle mechanics, such as a “pincer attack” where Shinji and Kaworu (voiced by Akira Ishida) may join forces to wipe out enemies.
The “Granblue Fantasy x Evangelion: Bonds of Phantasmal Blue” collaboration event is scheduled to run from November 5 at 17:00 (JST) until November 17 at 20:59 (JST).
