Sanrio’s Kuromi becomes a Y2K gyaru model for her new 20th anniversary cafe

A new collaboration cafe is set to open, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the popular Sanrio character, Kuromi.
The “KUROMI 20th ANNIVERSARY CAFE” is a themed, pop-up cafe that will be held in four different cities across Japan: Tokyo, Sendai, Nagoya, and Osaka.

Kuromi, who first debuted in 2005, is the self-proclaimed rival of My Melody, and is known for her black hood and pink skull motif.
The theme for this new, 20th-anniversary cafe is based around Kuromi being an “aspiring gyaru model”.
