Sailor Moon’s Official “Miracle Romance” Makeup Returns with New Lip and Cheek Collection
Three of Sailor Moon’s most recognizable transformation items are once again being turned into portable cosmetics, with the Transformation Brooch, Crystal Star Compact and Cosmic Heart Compact joining a new official lip and cheek makeup range.
First revealed back in December 2025, the new collection joins Bandai’s long-running “Miracle Romance” line, which has spent years transforming props and accessories from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon into beauty products aimed at the franchise’s adult fanbase.
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon began as Naoko Takeuchi’s manga in 1991 before becoming one of the defining magical girl anime franchises of the 1990s, following Usagi Tsukino as she transforms into Sailor Moon and fights alongside the other Sailor Guardians.
Usagi’s transformation item also changes as her powers develop throughout the story, making the three designs chosen for the new collection instantly recognizable symbols of different periods in Sailor Moon’s original adventures.
The new “Miracle Romance Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Multi Carry Lip & Cheek” collection recreates each of them as a small metallic-finish compact with decorative stones across the exterior and a color balm hidden inside.
Each balm can be applied to both the lips and cheeks, with lightly tinted colors designed to work with a wide range of makeup and a different fragrance created for all three versions.
Bandai has also included moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, jojoba seed oil and Artemisia capillaris flower extract, alongside Plukenetia volubilis seed oil to help retain moisture.
The collection actually revisits an idea Bandai first explored with the” Miracle Romance Multi Carry Balm” releases in 2018, which used the same transformation-item concept and became particularly memorable for the quality of their miniature cases.
The first item in the new “Lip and Cheek” collection is the “Transformation Brooch” version, priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $10 USD / £8 GBP), which recreates the compact associated with Usagi’s earliest adventures as Sailor Moon and features a white tea fragrance.
The Transformation Brooch is the item Usagi uses to become Sailor Moon at the beginning of the story and is closely associated with her iconic “Moon Prism Power, Make Up!” transformation.
The “Crystal Star Compact” version, priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $10 USD / £8 GBP), pairs its recreation of the star-shaped item with a peach fragrance.
The Crystal Star replaces Usagi’s original brooch during Sailor Moon R and becomes the focus of her upgraded transformation as her powers continue to develop following the events of the first story arc.
The “Cosmic Heart Compact” version, priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $10 USD / £8 GBP), recreates the distinctive heart-shaped transformation item and gives its balm a peony fragrance.
Introduced during Sailor Moon S, the Cosmic Heart Compact allows Usagi to transform using “Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!” and represents another major step forward in her abilities as increasingly powerful enemies begin to appear.
All three cases are small enough to carry easily and include a ball chain, so they can also be attached to a bag and displayed more like Sailor Moon accessories when the makeup itself is not being used.
All three “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Miracle Romance Multi Carry Lip & Cheek” designs are now available through the Sailor Moon Store in Harajuku, its Shinsaibashi and Nagoya PARCO satellite stores, and a selection of variety stores and drugstores across Japan.
