Rebuild of Evangelion’s Awakened EVA Unit-01 Gets New Premium Figure From threezero
threezero has revealed the latest addition to its acclaimed ROBO-DOU action figure line with a new special edition based on the awakened EVA Test Type-01 from Rebuild of Evangelion.
Rebuild of Evangelion is Hideaki Anno’s four-film retelling of the legendary Evangelion series, expanding and reimagining the original story with new characters, revised events and spectacular large-scale battles, with Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance featuring one of the franchise’s most unforgettable moments as Shinji Ikari pushes beyond human limits to rescue Rei Ayanami, awakening EVA Unit-01 into its overwhelming Pseudo DMS Phase and setting the events of the Third Impact into motion.
This latest release comes just after the start of pre-orders for threezero’s ROBO-DOU Evangelion Production Model Custom Type-08α figure, which is based on the same film series.
Standing approximately 25 cm tall, the new ROBO-DOU figure recreates EVA Test Type-01’s awakened appearance with an intricate sculpt built around a die-cast zinc alloy internal frame that provides 48 points of articulation for a wide variety of dynamic poses.
The figure’s distinctive red armor sections have been finished with UV-reactive paint that glows under ultraviolet light, while the left arm has been recreated using translucent materials to capture the appearance of concentrated light energy seen during the film.
LED light-up eyes further enhance the display, allowing collectors to recreate the dramatic glowing effect from Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, while an additional berserk roaring head sculpt offers an alternate display option.
A selection of interchangeable accessories includes two pairs of hands, a halo effect part, a damaged chest armor piece exposing the core, an A.T. Field effect, and an A.T. Field attack effect, all of which can be displayed using the included stand to recreate the EVA’s awakening sequence.
As a special edition release, the figure also includes three exclusive accessories consisting of a 10th Angel-themed core display base, an Angel core part, and a translucent left hand designed to hold the core, allowing fans to recreate one of the film’s defining scenes in even greater detail.
Pricing details for the “ROBO-DOU EVA Test Type-01 Pseudo DMS Phase (Special Edition)” have not yet been announced by threezero.
The figure is currently scheduled for release at a later date, though fans can expect it to appear for pre-order with reputable hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan in the near future.
